How Creators in Bangladesh Can Earn Money Online
A practical guide to earning online from Bangladesh without a trade licence, a foreign payment gateway or a registered company: coffee gifts, memberships, newsletters and a shop, with real numbers and sources.
Finding an audience isn’t the hard part in Bangladesh anymore. Getting paid by that audience is.
Your videos get views, your posts get shared, and someone in the comments asks, “Bhai, how can I support you?” So you reply with your personal bKash number. The record of who sent what lives in screenshots, nobody gets a receipt, and once the number is public the strange calls start. A cooking creator in Sylhet with 12,000 followers can’t run things that way for years. What that creator needs is one link where fans pay the way they already pay for everything else, and a clean record of every taka.
How big the market actually is
Start with the numbers.
- 82.8M
- Internet users
- 49.8M
- YouTube ad reach
- 239.3M
- Mobile money accounts
- ৳1.72 trillion
- Mobile money moved in one month
End of 2025, 47% of the population

January 2025, up 32.56% year on year

DataReportal’s Digital 2026: Bangladesh report puts the country at 82.8 million internet users at the end of 2025. Facebook’s ad reach was 64.0 million, and TikTok reached 56.2 million adults. There’s no shortage of people watching.
They’re also used to paying from their phones. Bangladesh Bank data shows 239.3 million mobile financial services (MFS) accounts in January 2025, and nearly ৳1.72 trillion moved through them in that single month. bKash alone serves 82 million customers, and more than 47 million of them made a transaction in the last 90 days.
The skills are there too. The Oxford Internet Institute’s Online Labour Index found that 16% of the world’s online freelance workers are in Bangladesh, second only to India. People here know how to earn online. What’s been missing is a clean way to get paid directly by a local audience.
Why Patreon and Buy Me a Coffee don’t quite work here
Those platforms were built for card payments in dollars, and most of them run on Stripe or PayPal. Bangladesh isn’t on Stripe’s list of supported countries, so you can’t open a Stripe account from here. Some platforms have found workarounds for payouts, but the real problem sits on the fan’s side. A Bangladeshi supporter who reaches a checkout priced in dollars and asking for a card number usually stops right there. They want to pay; they just don’t have that way to pay.
A personal bKash number solves the fan’s problem and creates yours. You can’t run a monthly subscription through it, you can’t deliver a digital file automatically, and working out your yearly income means scrolling through your whole message history. হবে নাকি Coffee? sits in between. Fans pay with bKash, Nagad, Rocket or a card, in taka, and you get a record of every payment with the supporter’s name and message.
Four income streams, one account
All four services run from the same account, and everything they earn lands in a single balance (one account for everything).
| Stream | How the income behaves | Works best for |
|---|---|---|
| Coffee gifts | One-off, varies month to month | Any page, channel or profile |
| Memberships | Monthly and predictable | Creators who publish on a schedule |
| Newsletter | Monthly members plus per-post sales | Writers, journalists, analysts |
| Shop | Per sale | Designers, teachers, merch sellers |
Coffee gifts: the easiest place to start
A coffee gift is a digital tip. You set the price of one “coffee”, the supporter chooses how many to send and can add a message. They don’t need an account to do it. There’s no minimum follower count and no approval to wait for.
Here’s how the maths works. Say one coffee costs ৳50, and 40 supporters send two each in a month. That’s ৳4,000. After the current 3.5% fee (৳140), ৳3,860 lands in your balance. More detail on the coffee gifts feature page.
Memberships: income you can plan around
Members pay the monthly price you set, automatically. They get reminders 5, 3 and 1 day before renewal, and whoever joins at a price keeps that price. It takes longer to set up than coffee gifts, but it’s the only stream where you can roughly predict at the start of the month what you’ll earn by the end of it. Tiers and pricing are covered in the membership guide.
Newsletter: turning writing into income
Turn on the newsletter and a default membership plan (৳299/month) is created for you, which you can edit any time. Each post can be free, members-only, or sold on its own as pay-per-post. Readers can even gift a paid post to someone else. More on the newsletter feature page.
Shop: digital and physical products
Ebooks, templates and Lightroom presets can sit next to T-shirts and art prints in the same storefront. Digital files are delivered the moment payment clears. Physical products get Cash on Delivery and separate shipping rates for inside and outside Dhaka. The whole process is in the digital product selling guide.
Estimate what you could earn
Plug in your own numbers. This is a planning aid, not a promise; what you actually earn depends on how regular your audience is and how useful your work is to them.
Estimated net income per month
৳15,401.4
With the default numbers, that’s ৳3,000 + (40 × ৳199) + ৳5,000 = ৳15,960. After the 3.5% fee, about ৳15,401. That’s a realistic target for a part-time creator, though not in month one. The numbers usually settle only after a few months of posting consistently.
What it costs
Your Earnings section shows the gross amount, the fee and the net for every payment. There’s no monthly charge and no setup fee. If nothing sells, nothing is deducted.
Withdrawals, verification and tax
Once your balance reaches ৳500 you can withdraw to bKash, Nagad, Rocket or a Bangladeshi bank account. Mobile banking withdrawals usually arrive within 24 hours; bank transfers take 2–3 business days. Your earnings never expire.
You can build your profile and start accepting payments without any verification. Before your first withdrawal, though, you’ll need to verify your identity once with your National ID (NID).
Tax is the part most people skip, but online income is still income. Under the 2025-26 budget, the tax-free threshold for individuals is ৳3,50,000, and it’s been announced to rise to ৳3,75,000 from fiscal year 2026-27. Women, people over 65 and some other groups have higher thresholds. If your total yearly income crosses the threshold, you’ll need to file a return, so talk to a tax adviser about your situation. Exporting your full history as a CSV from the Transactions section of your dashboard makes that conversation much easier.

Your first 30 days
The most common mistake is switching on all four services at once and promoting none of them properly. Start with one, watch what your audience responds to, then add the next.
- 1
Day one: account and profile
Log in with Google, Facebook, GitHub or email. Add a real photo, a cover and a two-line bio: what you make, and what support money goes towards.
- 2
Week one: switch on coffee gifts
Price one coffee close to what a cup of tea or coffee costs at a shop, so nobody thinks twice about sending one. Put the link in your Facebook Page's About section, your YouTube description and a pinned post.
- 3
Week two: one honest announcement
Post about why you added the link. With their permission, thank your first supporters by name.
- 4
Week three: a second income stream
Look at the question you get most in comments and DMs. Turn the answer into a small digital product or a members-only post series.
- 5
Week four: verification and your first withdrawal
Finish identity verification with your NID. Once you've got ৳500, withdraw once to see how the process works end to end.
This platform is built for people whose audience is in Bangladesh and who want to be paid by that audience in taka: content creators, writers, artists, teachers, podcasters, small online businesses, community and event organisers. If you sell services to foreign clients in dollars, marketplaces like Fiverr or Upwork are the right tool. That’s a different job.
FAQ
Do I need a trade licence to start earning online?
You don't need a trade licence or company registration to sign up, accept payments or withdraw on হবে নাকি Coffee?; you only need to verify your identity with your NID before your first withdrawal. If your income grows or you run it as a regular business, speak with a professional about your legal and tax obligations.
How many followers do I need to start?
There's no minimum. Engagement matters more than follower count: your first supporters usually come from the people who comment regularly and wait for your next post.
How can fans pay me?
With bKash, Nagad, Rocket, or a Visa or Mastercard debit or credit card. Everything is charged in taka and processed through Bangladeshi payment gateways such as SSLCommerz and aamarPay.
Can I run several income streams at once?
Yes. Coffee gifts, memberships, the newsletter and the shop all run on one account, and all of them pay into a single balance. You can switch any of them on or off from the Services section of your dashboard.
How much does the platform take?
Right now it's one flat 3.5% platform fee on every service, effective from 16 September 2026. There's no monthly charge or setup fee. Check the pricing page for the latest rate.
